Blogging Marathon # 13 – 7 Day Marathon!

After the wonderful 12th Edition, when Blogging Marathon completed a year, when I decided we could have some easy themes to enjoy, I am back with themes that I think are very challenging. Of course my regular Blogging Marathon buddies have proved me that nothing is tough for them. So I am pretty excited to announce the themes. Especially having been thinking so hard for many weeks on this 
For the usual note on Blogging Marathon. BM helps us build a great community which makes sure we read and support each other. If you have been following us, then you know that not only do we support the other blogger by reading and commenting, we also have private discussions which is an open forum. Being part of this group means, you got to actively take part in the discussions and to read the other participating blogger posts. If you are not ready for this, then this is not for you.
Since the 6th edition, I have created a separate page for Blogging Marathon. Once I get all details I will be updating this page. Bloggers taking part in this marathon need to just link back to this page.

So the 13th edition will 16th – 22nd February and the second group will start on 23rd – 29th February.
Please email me at latest by 12th February along with your theme.
FYI:  Requests to join after 12th February will not be accepted.
Mandatory rules for this Blogging Marathon are as below:
  • Will have to post on all 7 days without fail
  • Should follow the accepted theme all 7 days, meaning if you choose one topic like Rice, you should post all rice based recipes all 7 days.
  • Should link to the Blogging Marathon page.
  • Should actively give feedback on others post.
Other rules will be mailed to the individuals.
Themes for this edition are the following.
Easy Lunch Box recipes for Kids – Rice

This will only have to be with rice. You can use leftover rice or rice that you had already cooked, but essence is you got to make the rice in short 15 – 20 mins at the max. Simple quick Rice dishes that are kid friendly to be packed for Lunch. This has to be approved by a kid. (Age under 15 max) I don’t normally prefer to use leftover rice for kids, so soaking and cooking takes place over the early hours of the day. The actual cooking of the rice dish takes about 10 – 15 mins max.

Menu Planning : Party for huge crowd

Are you good at planning for a crowd of 20 or more? Then this is the theme you can select to share how you do. It can include right from Planning for the menu and can includes posts on preps and other things you can do ahead before the big day. Since one single post will be too much of information you can do menu planning which includes how you arrived at the menu, age group involved, preparations you did for each dish etc. If you had done menu planning for parties that you hosted for huge crowd, then do share your experience on how to organize.

Seven Days of Kabab

Kababs are those classic starters that can entice anybody. For better understand of what I mean by Kabab, check out Wiki. You can basically make anything and everything that’s listed over there!

Kid’s Delight: Eggless or Vegan Bakes

This month’s Kid’s Delight is hosted by Priya Suresh and she wants us to bake something that’s either Eggless or Vegan. It need not be both, either of that is just fine I guess. It can be sweet or savory but make sure you bake something Eggless or Vegan. (She will update the post with exact rules)

Postpartum Diet

Postpartum is that period just after delivery. Postpartum refers to the mother and postnatal to the baby. So if you have experience with special postpartum diet, you are most welcome to share them. I remember some special dishes that gets done for the mothers. So it will be interesting if you have some to share.

Seven Days of Rasam

Then in the series of learning one course an edition, comes Rasam. Imagine I only make one variety. Though I love the varieties this course of meal has, I have somehow never attempted at it.

Seven Days of Chips

I refer to the edible chip of course! As per definition I guess chips will refer to Potato chips, Banana chip, Chocolate chip, Corn chip, or Tortilla chip.

From the technical aspect of chocolate chip being made at home, we can ignore that for this theme. But you may also include other ingredients that are cooked or baked in the same methodology. Like baking a roti into a chip etc.

The chip can be deep fried, baked or whatever method of cooking you can think of. It should be a chip that can be dipped or munched as such.

    By Menu planning do you mean 1 party or shd i be having seven menus? Just organised my daughter's 6th bday on saturday. Can I blog abt it in parts for 7 days?

  2. Andy Basically the idea is not clear as yet! So you have advantage of doing it as you find it best..:)..Anyway the idea behind this theme was basically to help somebody who wants to host a party for a big crowd..number can be 10, 20 or 50. It all boils down to details of what one needs to do with respect to the menu. Preparations that need to be done ahead, cooking ahead, selecting those dishes that can be done ahead partly, then doing it on the day. Hope I am clear. will be glad if you want to share your experience.
