For the second day of cooking Festival dishes, as I said I was more keen on making simple and easy sweets and savories. And that includes making dishes that my kids would eat. So naturally it has to be chocolate. I was browsing through my files for the CC challenge and came across so many dishes that I could make. I have marked so many as of now, I am sure I will be very busy if I start making those.
Hubby dear wanted to know why I was so busy making so many sweets one after the other. I told him, it's a festival theme on the blog. He gave his knowing look and passed on. He refused to have anything to do with the chocolate creation I did, saying I have enough patronage that it might not be actually enough.
My usual cooking time for such dishes are mostly after the kids sleep. So you can imagine the Nirvana one would get at those late nights, with the house smelling heavenly with chocolate. It was so intoxicating and addictive, that I was wondering how hubby dear was braving himself. Guess what! Only selected few are destined to attain the Nirvana and I realized that I was..:) It's a bliss that comes only if you let yourself into it. Trust me, I had my face close to the pan couple of times, of course making sure nobody saw me doing that.

So coming to this Chocolate Halwa, the corn flour makes it more wobbly like a custard, but it's more set. In fact Konda asked if it was pudding. Of course my pudding recipe was different. I even realized that I could have added more sugar, but when one eats so much of this in one shot, it's enough. I sliced into small diamonds and kids had this over a day, which was very surprising. They said they wanted to keep and relish! So how about those times when they used to gobble everything in one shot? they replied that time they were in a hurry to enjoy everything in one shot. Kids have answers to everything. I shouldn't question them on their love for chocolates, simple!
Cooking this doesn't take more than 15 - 20 mins, and setting is even lesser. Yet since it was late night, I refrigerated it for the clicks in the morning. This is one of those simplest Diwali treats you can make and be sure your kids would love them!

Such a sinfully delicious chocolate treat.
For you query on using regular milk to make eggless black forest cake: yes, you can use milk and vinegar or simply use some buttermilk to get the same results.
