  • 1 cup Jower Flour
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup Onions
  • 1 - 2 Green Chillies
  • 1 tsp Chana Dal / Bengal gram
  • Handful Curry Leaves
  • 2 tsp Cooking Oil

  • Heat a pan with little cooking oil, gently sauté the chopped onions, including all the other ingredients, expect the jowar flour.
  • Take the jowar flour in a bowl, mix salt and slowly add water and mix well to get a dropping consistency.
  • Add the sauteed ingredients and mix well. Allow it to rest for 10 -15 minutes. This way it becomes a little softer when its getting cooked.
  • Heat the appey pan, when it becomes hot, reduce the flame to medium.
  • Add a few drops of cooking oil and pour a spoonful of the batter into each hole, drizzle a few drops of oil over the top. Cover with lid and cook for 2 -3 minutes.
  • Once it's done, flip to the other side and cook till it's done. It takes about 5 - 6 minutes for the entire batch to be done.

Serve this with your choice of relish, I served this appey with Quick Tomato Chutney and Quick Microwave Mango Relish.
