In a pressure cooker, take all the dals and wash well. Add three times water along with turmeric powder, pressure cook till soft. Wait for the pressure to fall down.
In a nonstick pan, heat oil and ghee, temper with cumin seeds, asafetida and then add the chopped green chillies, dry chillies, grated and crushed ginger and garlic. Saute for 2 mins.
Then add the chopped onions, saute till browned. Add the cooked dal, enough water along with salt. Add the chilli powder. and simmer till dal thickens.
Add finely chopped coriander leaves.
Serve with rotis.
