Char Dal Tadka | How to make Yellow Dal Tadka

Ingredients

To be Pressure Cooked

  • 1/4 cup Toor Dal
  • 1/4 cup Masoor Dal
  • 1/4 cup Chana Dal
  • 1/4 cup Yellow Split Moong Dal
  • A Pinch Turmeric Powder

For Tempering

  • 2 tbsp Onions
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 2 tsp Ghee
  • 3 nos Green Chilies
  • 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • 4 cloves Garlic
  • A Pinch Asafoetida
  • Handful Curry Leaves
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Wash and pressure all the dals together along with turmeric powder. Slightly mash it.
  • Heat a kadai with ghee, temper with hing, curry leaves, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, garlic, green chilies, saute well. Then add the chopped onions, cook till it turns colour. Add the red chili powder and combine.
  • Add the cooked dal and bring to a boil after adding the required amount of water.
  • Serve hot with Pulkas
