Methi Aloo Paneer Stuffed Paratha is a healthy stuffed paratha made with fresh methi or fenugreek leaves with aloo and paneer. With spices added, this makes a delicious lunch box dish.

    Methi Aloo Paneer Stuffed Paratha

We mostly make these stuffed parathas for weekends, however, I also pack these for Konda's lunch box as it's easy to handle and eat. These parathas are a wonderful option to make.

I mostly make about 2 to 3 numbers, it's easy to get the whole cooking done within 30 minutes and to pack for kids for their Lunch Box Dishes In 30 Minutes.

    Ingredients

Making Outer Layer of the Methi Aloo Paneer Stuffed Paratha

Flour - I have used Wheat Flour to make the outer layer. You can include other flours as well if you want it healthy or looking for other ideas.
Apart from this, I have only used salt and water to knead the dough.

A little bit of any cooking oil of your choice will help the dough to become softer.

    For the Stuffing

These parathas have more or less equal amounts of the main ingredients.

Methi - I have big methi or the Delhi methi leaves as we call it.

For binding and protein fix - I have used potato and paneer for both binding and adding protein to the paratha.

Spices - I have used green chilies for the spice along with regular pantry spices like ginger, and cumin seeds.

Spice powder - Chat masala adds a twist and balances out the ingredient flavour.

    Instructions

Methi Aloo Paneer Stuffed Paratha - For the Outer Layer

Take the flour in a bowl with salt and add the water as required to knead to a soft dough. Divide into equal balls and let it rest for 10 mins.

Step By Step Pictures for making the paratha

How to make the stuffing for Stuffed Methi Aloo Paneer Paratha

Wash and clean the methi leaves. Let it drain if required, and chop it finely.
Slash the potatoes and microwave for 5 to 6 minutes till cooked. Peel the skin and mash well.
Heat a nonstick pan with Oil, add Cumin Seeds, Green chili powder, and Ginger paste. Saute well.
Next, add the methi leaves, and simmer till the leaves are well cooked, for about 5 mins.
Add salt and Turmeric Powder. Add the mashed potato, and combine well.
Now add the grated paneer and mix well.
Add the chat masala and cook for another 5 minutes.

How to make Methi Aloo Paneer Stuffed Paratha 2

    For assembling

Dust the balls, flatten them, place a spoon of the stuffing in the center. Next cover the outer layer on all sides.
Roll into 6 inches discs and cook on a hot tawa or griddle on both sides with oil-smeared.
    Serve with curds and pickles.

    Substitutions & Variations

When you are not able to find the Delhi Methi leaves, you can go with any local variety you get. If you are thinking about dried methi, you can certainly use dried methi leaves as well.

If stuffing is tough for you, can you make it as the Methi Roti I have.

    Storage

Since we are using fresh methi leaves, make sure you preserve the fresh leaves well packed. Else the leaves will leave a bitter taste to the paratha.

You can store the boiled potato and prepared paneer for a day or two before using it.

The cooked parathas stay good when refrigerated and can be served hot after cooking it or microwave it.

    Equipment

We will need a mixing bowl, chopping board and a tawa to make these parathas.

    Expert tips

Since these are stuffed parathas, make sure the leaves are not very moist. Ensure the leaves are dry before adding grated potato and paneer.

    FAQ

Can we consume Methi or Fenugreek leaves frequently?

Methi or Fenugreek leaves are healthy and can be consumed regularly. Certainly, including fenugreek is good and healthy as it also possesses heating properties, it also can help increase body metabolism and improve digestion.

Will these Fenugreek leaves turn bitter and make the parathas taste bitter as well?

As result of adding potato and paneer, these parathas don't taste bitter as these two balance the taste and you will not find the bitterness.
