Rømmegrøt, also known as rømmegraut, is a Norwegian porridge. They make it with sour cream, milk, flour, butter, and salt. It has butter, cinnamon sugar sprinkled on top. Traditionally, they make this delicacy for special occasions. Since Rømmegrøt is thick and sweet, it is served in small portions.

Since I was only making one serving, I made it in a single serving bowl in the microwave. It was quite rich with the butter that went in and the butter on top! Cinnamon gives an excellent lingering taste when enjoying this dessert.

I made this pudding in the microwave as I was making a single-serve dessert. Single-serve desserts are so easy to make in microwave mode. On top of this dessert is so simple and has pantry ingredients that you can very quickly assemble.

It looks delicious, and I’m sure it tastes delicious too.
As a Norwegian, there’s a few things that needs to be noted.
For this to be real rømmegrøt, it would have to have sour cream in it. «Rømme» is the norwegian word for sour cream.
Rømmegrøt is not a pudding, but a porridge. It is always eaten warm, as a main course or with a side of cured meat.
It is not a breakfast dish or a dessert.
To make rømmegrøt, you need full fat sour cream without any additives, which I understand can be hard to buy in the US.

Thank you for the clarification. I did use sour cream if you read the intro, I had mentioned I used sour cream, will update the recipe :)...and since the recipe I referred to had sugar on top, I had it for dessert!...
