Couple of months ago, when I went shopping I came across a packet of Samba Godhuma and Bansi Rava. Now there is an eternal search to find out if both are the same or different. By the looks I can say both are not the same stuff. I have ever since planned to write a post on both the ingredients. Well that's for another day.

Meanwhile this easy and quick upma was made using Samba Godhuma Rava. It was to be a quick breakfast and I got this done in about 15 mins. The only time it takes if for the vegetables to get cooked. I was cooking only for my hubby dear and so decided that it can easily qualify for Bachelor dishes.

I know I seem to have used the word Samba Godhuma Rava and Bansi Rava so interchangeably. I will need to go change and update all of those posts. Funny part was, nobody has a proper explanation of what and from where these two is derived. Samba Godhuma is clear as it's a rava/semolina made from the Samba Wheat. I am not sure of the Bansi Rava. Will have to work on posting more details and educating myself on these two. I love Bansi Rava, especially the halwa that Amma used to make for me when I was with Konda. It used to taste yum. Now my another task is to check if I have posted that Bansi Rava Halwa. I remember somebody recently telling me that my forgetfulness is perils of posting so many! No way of keeping track of what I have posted. There are still so many everyday dishes I have not shared!

Samba Wheat Vegetable Porridge - Vegan Friendly

    Ingredients Needed:

Samba Godhuma Rava / Samba Wheat Semolina - 1 cup
Water - 1 & 1/2 cup (increase by 1/2 more if you want a gooey consistency)
    Salt to taste
    Oil - 2 -3 tsp
Beans, Carrot, Potatoes, Peas - 1/2 cup
    Onions - 1 medium
    Green Chillies - 3 medium
    Dry Red Chili - 2
    Curry leaves few
Mustard Seeds, Urad Dal - 1/4 tsp
    Bengal Gram - 1/4 tsp
    Cashew nuts few

How to make the Samba Godhuma Vegetable Upma

Wash and cut the vegetables into small pieces. Microwave the vegetables with just enough water for 7 mins.

Meanwhile heat a non stick pan, roast the rava in a tsp of oil. Once it starts smelling good, remove and keep it aside.

In the same pan, add oil and all the tempering ingredients. Saute well. Then add onions and saute till it turns pinkish.

Then add water and bring to boil. When the water starts boiling, add the roasted Samba Godhuma Rava and simmer, mix well. Cover with lid and cook till done. It takes about couple of mins.
