The third of the blogging marathon saw me planning to do another chat dish this time more interesting as I love Samosas. I had been planning to bake a samosa for a long time but never came around doing that. Getting back home, feeding the kids I decided I ought to do it right away. Unlike yesterday boys decided that I wasn't going to make any chocolates so they were playing together not bothering me.

I made the dough such that it might get baked but unfortunately it didn't have enough leavening for it to get baked as the proper one. So ended up deep-frying the Samosa for the chat.

And I also ensured I kept the Chat Masala ready at hand not to forget in the final assembling. Hubby dear was most curious getting back from work seeing me busy doing something. He asked if every day was going to be a chat day. Nodding my head I offered him a plate of Dahi Samosa Chat and before he could even swallow wanted to his verdict.

I could gauge from his looks that this passed his approval. But wanted verbal confirmation. He said today's chat really tasted like the chat walas. Yes, that dash of Chat Masala ensured it give its taste!
Konda loved it and said she was enjoying the daily dose of Chats and wanted more, while boys were more than happy to finish off the sev they finally discovered the day.
Step by Step Recipe to make Dahi Samosa chat

Take the ingredients for the dough in a bowl and knead to a stiff dough.

Heat a pan and saute onions.

Add chili powder, coriander powder, roasted cumin powder, whole cumin, black salt, and salt and saute on low flame.

    Next goes the fresh peas

Finally the cooked potato. Combine everything well and simmer for 5 mins.

Remove and cool. Mash everything together well.

Make small balls and roll them out like this.

Make a cut in the middle, place the stuffing in the middle.

Close it like you will do an envelope.

Ensure to close on all sides.

Greased ones that were supposed to be baked but got finally deep fried.

    Fried samosas all ready.

Hung the Curds/ Yogurt and then beat it with sugar, chili powder.

In a serving bowl, take the samosas, roughly break them but not completely.

Pour generously spoons of sweetened curds.

    Next goes the Tamarind Chutney

    Most importantly the chat masala.

    Finally the sev!

Of course, to make it more colorful you can garnish with coriander leaves and chili powder. It ended up looking very festive!

    Dahi Samosa Chat

    Salt to taste

    For the Samosa filling
    Potatoes - 2 medium
    Onions - 1 medium
    Fresh Peas - 1/4 cup
    Red Chili powder- 1/2 tsp
    Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
    Roasted Cumin powder - 1/4
    Whole Cumins - 1/4 tsp
    Oil - 2 tsp
    Black Salt a pinch
    Salt to taste

Check the recipe for Tamarind Chutney

    For Making Chat
    Chat Masala - 1/4 tsp
    Chili powder a pinch
    Sev as required

    Method to prepare:

    To make Samosas:

Take all the ingredients needed for making the dough and knead to a stiff dough using very little water. Rest it for 15 mins.

    To make the Filling:

Microwave potatoes for 6 mins, peel, and mash.
Shell the peas and blanch for 3 mins.

Heat a pan with oil, saute onions, then add all the spices, fresh peas, potatoes. combine everything well. Remove and allow to cool

    To make the Samosas,

Roll out small balls into a circle. Make a vertical cut in the middle. Place a spoon of the filling in the middle, and close it like you will do an envelope.

Seal it on all sides properly and deep fry.

    To make the curds.

Hung the curds and then beat it with Sugar and Red Chili powder

    To assemble the chat.

On a serving plate, take the samosas, roughly break them.

Pour the curds over it, then the tamarind chutney. Sprinkle the chat masala over this.

Then goes the sev, finely chopped coriander leaves, and red chili powder.

Normally even green chutney gets added to this. But then I didn't make it.

I am simply happy with the results of this, so maybe next time I will try adding green chutney too.

This is my husband's favorite thing to eat. I usually don't like dahi in my chaat unless it is of course dahi vada. Anyways, I always love your step by step pics 🙂
