Fara or Chawal Ke Fare is quick to make breakfast dish from Chhattisgarh made with just three ingredients like rice flour, salt, and oil. These make a healthy option for breakfast.

These Faras are more like Ammani Kozhukattai made during Ganesh Chaturthi with just bare minimum ingredients. I made with just 1/2 cup of rice flour just for myself and it was good for a healthy option. This recipe takes only 15 to 20 mins from start to end. Even then I have been procrastinating for over two weeks.

I am doing BM#109 week 4 with A to Z Indian Breakfast Dishes, where today’s turn is F.

  1. Wow, that is such an interesting dish. Loved the name and didn’t know what they were until I saw the photos and read the recipe. Awesome pick for the letter F.

  2. There are so many regional variations of the same base recipe, right Valli? I am always surprised when people living so far away come up with almost the same recipe at a time when long distance communication was almost non existent. Anyway, that single serving of Fara looks great, not to mention healthy too.

  3. It is interesting to see the same recipe with regional variations… Looks very delicious and simple to make…

  4. wow.. each region does the dish with same base ingredients with little variations. good to know about this dish.
