Learn to make Pizza Pinwheel recipe from scratch. For the second day of Pizza Snacks, it's Pizza pinwheels or rolls. I guess this was the most sought out version in the marathon till now. Many have posted this and seeing my kids love towards this, I can understand why everybody wanted to make this.

Coming to the pinwheels, earlier I had made pizza bread rolls, where each roll gets attached to other rolls and end up being like a pull apart bread. While these are baked as such, more in the pinwheel shape.

As I said I refrigerated the prepared pinwheel overnight and baked it fresh just before kids left for their school. I was eager to know their feedback. However didn't ask them right away as I wanted them to tell me themselves.Pizza Pinwheel

When I was making the dinner, Peddu came and asked me what I was making. When he heard what I was going to make, he made face and said it wasn't so interesting. I asked him why he was saying that. And he very silently said it wasn't as interesting as the pizza I sent him for his school snack. His friend also loved it came the reply. I immediately asked him if he shared or gave everything to his friend. He said he shared and his friend loved it. He wanted to know when I will make more and send for school.

Hearing her brother say this, Konda also joined in and said her friends simply loved it. In fact, I had packed for her friends. So she was saying they loved it and wanted more. I was all pleased and assured them that I will be making it soon and pack for their friends as well.
So you know I have a winner of a recipe here.Pizza Rolls

Step by Step Pictures for making Pizza Pinwheel

    Pizza Rolls / Pizza Pinwheel

    Ingredients Needed

Pizza Dough same as Pizza cups
    Tomato Sauce

    For the Stuffing

    1 cup Onions smoked
1/2 cup Capsicum Bell Pepper, roasted
    Italian Seasoning
1 cup Cheese grated (I used a combination of Cheddar Cheese, processed and mozzarella)
    1 tsp Olive Oil

    For topping

1 cup Cheese (Cheddar Cheese, processed and mozzarella as required.
    Italian Seasoning
    Olive Oil

    For the Pizza dough

Use the same measurement used for Pizza Cups

    For the other filling:

Heat a nonstick pan with olive oil. Saute finely chopped onions on high flame for a couple of minutes and remove. Then saute the bell pepper for a couple of minutes. Season both with salt and pepper.

For making the Pinwheels or rolls

On the rolled out pizza sheet, spread the tomato sauce completely leaving a ½ inch on all sides.

Sprinkle with onions, capsicum, followed by grated cheese, Italian seasoning, and olive oil.

From the side on your side, tightly roll up, tucking in everything as you roll up.

Using a sharp knife, slice into an inch rolls or cubes. On a greased baking tray, place with the cut side down.

Let it rest till it doubles up. When you want to bake it, preheat the oven to 185 C and bake for 15 mins.

    Notes:

You can either freeze or refrigerate the pinwheels overnight to bake in the morning for school snacks.
You can top it with your topping of choice.

Oh I love these and it reminds me of my kids school days. I had to pack two lunch boxes so my son would get to eat. The boys eyes would pop up with the aroma of pizza and there was no way he could avoid them. 🙂

Amazing pizza snack. What are smoked onions that you used in the filling? Did you make them or buy them?

Pavani Smoked Onions is made by adding oil on the onions over flame and cooking it over flame. Check this post on Chinese fried rice to see how it is made https://www.cooking4allseasons.com/2010/11/chicken-fried-rice-indian-style-how-to.html
