Hotel Style Red Chutney or Vengaya Chutney is the simplest chutney you can make with onions and other basic ingredients. This is one of the popular chutneys served in restaurants.
Konda is very fond of the Red chutney that's served with Dosas in the restaurants and mostly eats only that. We have had other versions of Red chutney that get served in some restaurants and that Konda said it was what she likes, so there is no harm in making note of all the versions that we get this chutney as well.
Amma watches some of the cookery programs and this is part of the show. She tried it right away and all of us liked it a lot. Since then its become a staple at home. I am finally getting around to writing about it.
I would surely say this makes a great condiment to serve at a party and kids will love it.

Shreyas and me are also like Konda. We eat only the red chutney when we go to hotels. This version of chutney is very close to my friend’s preparation. She adds tomatoes as well when sautéing. That’s the only difference.
