Make this instant Rava modak for this Ganesh Chaturthi for Neivedyam and enjoy the festival. This easy No Steam Suji Modak takes only about 15 minutes to get done.
I made this Suji Modak for last year's Vinayaka Chavithi and wanted to make sure I share it ahead of this year's festival.
This Rava Modakam recipe is very easy and you only need a handful of ingredients to make it. It is almost similar to Rava Kesari or Sooji Halwa we make. The only difference is we stuff with nuts. You can also stuff it with Khoya or other poornams like coconut etc.
Unlike the regular Kesari, I didn't add colour and also added sugar first so that the sugar syrup that gets formed binds the modak. This year Ganesh Chaturthi is on Sep 10th and I am yet to plan on the Neivedyam to make for Lord Ganesha.
I shared two other dishes - Undrallu and Pala Undrallu, we made for last year's festival along with Amma's pooja setup. Do check out and enjoy the day with your family.

Step By Step Pictures for making Instant Rava Modak
Soak a few saffrons in 2 tbsp hot milk.
In a nonstick pan, dry roast the Rava till aromatic and remove to a plate.
To the same pan, add ghee and roast the chopped nuts, remove to a plate.
Next, add the Rava and saute for few minutes, until well combined.
Add sugar along with water, cook till the sugar melts. Keep stirring until the sugar is all melted and cook on low flame for 2 minutes.
Now add the soaked saffron milk and continue cooking.
The liquid evaporates in about 10 minutes and comes together.
Transfer to a bowl and let it cool down a bit for you to handle it.
Divide into equal balls and roll well. I got about 10 small Modak.
Flatten the balls on your greased palm, place the roasted nuts in the center and close from all sides to completely enclose it.
Shape as a cone and garnish with few saffron strands. Using a sharp knife, make marks on 4 to 5 sides slightly to give a more Modak shape.
Offer as Neivedyam and partake.
